Fromm USA Triathlon: Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon Ben Kanute (Phoenix, Ariz.) defended his title at the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon on Sunday, claiming the win with a time of 2:00:49. Kessler Wins IRONMAN 70.3 Raleigh

San Francisco’s Meredith Kessler took home the top spot at Ironman 70.3 Raleigh in a time of 4:20:53, nearly five minutes faster than the next closest competitor. Heather Jackson of Bend, Ore. came in second in 4:25:34, while Canada’s Stephanie Roy finished third. Just two weeks prior to this win, Kessler took second at Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga. San Francisco’s Piampiano Second at Ironman Brazil

From USA Triathlon   IRONMAN Brazil Sarah Piampiano (San Francisco, Calif.) raced to a second-place finish at IRONMAN Brazil on Sunday, covering the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run in 9:03:33. Canada’s Kirsty Jahn took the win in 8:54:57, and Brazil’s Bruna Mahn claimed third on home soil in 9:10:37. Kessler Takes Second at Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga

Meredith Kessler of San Francisco battled it out with Heather Jackson of Bend, OR for the the top spot at Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga. The two remained close for much of the race but Jackson surged on the run and finished the course just ahead of Kessler in a time of 4:11:08. A San Francisco resident took the overall victory in Ironman Santa Rosa on Saturday. Derk De Korver, originally from the Netherlands, covered the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run in a time of 8:22:02 for the win. Matthew Malone of Boulder, Colo. was second and Sami Inkinen of San Anselmo finished third with a time of 8:34:46. Cal Women Earn Collegiate Title; Koski and McKinley Claim Combined Titles For Cal

Nearly 1,300 athletes from 120 collegiate clubs and over 150 high school athletes competed at the USA Triathlon Collegiate Club & High School National Championships last weekend in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Treeathlon hosted by the Stanford triathlon team returns for its 14th season this weekend (March 3-4) at the Pacific Shores Center and Westpoint Harbor in Redwood City.
