Bay Area’s Thomas Emerick Earns Bronze at ITU World Championships

The ITU Age-Group World Triathlon Championships were held in Rotterdam, Netherlands this year and triathlete from around the world competed for world titles in both standard and sprint distance triathlons. Thomas Emerick of San Francisco was one of 33 athletes to earn a medal for the United States over the weekend of racing. Emerick earned a bronze medal in the 50-54 age-group of the standard distance triathlon which featured a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and a non-drafting 10-kilometer run.

Emerick started the race with a 20 minute and 19 second swim, the best time in his age-group. He then put together a solid bike/run performance to hold on to his podium spot, finishing third in a time of 2:07:04.
