Former professional cyclist, Andrew Talansky, wins Marin County Olympic Distance Triathlon

Only a couple of months after retiring from professional cycling, Andrew Talansky of Napa won the Olympic Distance race at the Marin County Triathlon on October 28th. Talansky last raced on the pro tour team Cannondale Drapac but has now made the switch to triathlon with his sights set on Ironman racing. Some of Talansky’s major highlights as a professional cyclist include an overall victory at the Criterium du Dauphine, stage wins at Paris-Nice and the Amgen Tour of California, 10th overall at the Tour de France and 5th at the Vuelta a Espana.

Talansky completed the course in 2 hours and 14 seconds, over 10 minutes ahead of his closest competitor. After a solid 20:57 swim, he put in an impressive 57:25 performance on a tough bike course and finished the race with a 39:30 run.
